Have you noticed the number of product launches lately?
Being on a budget lately I’ve certainly noticed the number of new product and range launches from makeup companies for the summer months. I was getting a little tired of seeing so many new products I couldn’t buy. Around this time I received an email from The Publicity Loft inviting me to my favourite budget and cruelty free brand Wet’n’Wild’s summer product launch. Well I couldn’t say no could I? It’s rekindled my love of makeup and I’ve decided to share some of my favourites with you including some of the new range.
Coloricon Bronzer (€5.00) (Shade: Reserve Your Cabana)
I’ve previously used a more suitable shade of bronzer from this range and it was great but I’m not great for contouring or using bronzer in general. When I received this in a goodie bag* a few weeks back initially I was disappointed. One evening as I was getting ready I swatched it on my hand and noticed that the colour was aroundthe same shade as my foundation and low and behold I had run out of pressed powder – so out of desperation I tried it to set my concealer and brushed it gently over my whole face once my look was complete. It did not budge. The entire night. Its now my go to pressed powder. Enough said.
Mega Last Catsuit Liquid Lipstick* (€5.00) (Shade: Rebel Rose)
I was a little skeptical about this liquid lipstick, I’ve had so much trouble with liquid lipsticks especially matte ones. I always ensure I’ve exfoliated my lips and have a back up lip balm with me when trying out matte lipsticks as they can be so drying. So I tried this out for a night out for my friends 30th and over the course of the night I only reapplied once and to be honest I think it was more out of habit than the formula and colour fading.
It goes on like a gloss with a doefoot applicator and feels very soft as it glides on. And that’s how it stays, it feels nourishing and I don’t find myself worrying about whether it’s there. You can tell but not in an annoying way.
Its great to finally find a matte liquid lipstick that does what it says without wrecking your lips and not having to reapply every few hours and for a fiver you can do much worse. I hope they expand it to include bolder colours too.
7 Shades available: Missy and Fierce, Give Me Mocha, Berry Recognize, Nudie Patootie, Nudist Peach, Coral Corruption, Rebel Rose.
Mega Last Silk Finish* (€2) (Fuschia with Blue Pearl)
Another lipstick I know but I’ve having a bit of a moment with them. I’m exploring different colours with my skin tone that doesn’t make me look 90 or washed out. This arrived for International Womens Day and I’ve used it loads. Most recently I reached for my new Urban Decay Vice lipstick (see swatch below) and immediately I took it off to put this on. Though it’s not as long wearing as the Catsuit Liquid Lipstick above, the colour pay off and the comfort is the same. I have no problem reapplying as it nearly works as a tinted lip balm rather than a full lipstick.
Photo Focus Foundation* (€6.95) (Classic Beige)
I don’t know where to start with this. The hype that preceded this online was absolutely insane. I just had to try it. I waited and waited until they showed up in my local Dunnes but only to find one day they were sold out before I even got to swatch! So I was over the moon when I found one in my goodie bag after the launch. I was really unsure when I swatched the shade, I would never be as dark as to consider a “beige” named foundation, like ever! So I buffed it out on my hand and what do you know it blended out to a perfect shade for me. The formula is like dairy cream, smooth and a little runny but not in a watery way. A little goes a long way as you can build up the cover. I didn’t need much at all to achieve the look above and below. I love this foundation, I think it’s a holy grail product if there ever was one.
Photo Focus Concealer (€4.00)
Once I had tried out the foundation with great results, I knew I had to get my hands on the concealer. I tend to find a concealer and stick to it once I like it. I don’t try out new ones very often as there’s nothing worse than trialling concealers if you’re out and about. The formula is very like the foundation, creamy but a little runny. It blends out and covers dark circles and blemishes, i.e. what it should do! I have trouble covering up blemishes and spots especially around my nose as it’s very red so I often end up looking a bit caked. With this there’s none of that, it’s simply apply, blend out and set and it doesn’t budge.
You can check out any of these and other Wet’n’Wild products at selected Dunnes, Penneys and pharmacies nationwide. I give you the best of luck with the foundation as it seems to be more scarce than gold at the moment, with good reason of course!
Have you tried any Wet’n’Wild products? What are your holy grail products?
I received the Coloricon Bronzer, Photo Focus Foundation and Catsuit Lipsick in a goodie bag from the Wet’n’Wild Summer product launch. As disclosed on the What Makes Women Strong post, the Silk Finish lipstick was also a PR gift. I was not paid to review or to post about any of the products above. All the above are my honest opinions.
