Support Local Food Guide

Seeing as you all loved my #supportlocal Xmas Gift Guide I figured I’d follow up with a similar theme although I’ll have to hold myself back from not writing pages here. I’m going to select a few very special local products and locations where you can find the best produce to make your festive celebrations sing Irish food praises. Also great ideas if you want to build your own hamper.

Corleggy Cheese – I’m a huge fan of these cheeses. They’ve even created their own style of camembert – Cavanbert which is creating waves in the food scene at the moment. I was dissapointed to hear I won’t get any of their fabulous fresh halloumi for Christmas but when it’s not in season it’s not in season! They also do lovely taster kits which I’m going to guess you could get in larger sizes and have a cheese board all in one! You can find these at

McNally Farm – Another Temple Bar market favourite of mine, Jenny and co are so friendly and helpful – they will sort out with seasonal veg for your feast and then some. I love their unusual mix of salads and their veg always lasts so much longer which may not matter so much for a feast but when only feeding two I hate waste!

Whole Hoggs – I may not know much about meat these days but from what I’ve heard from others the Whole Hoggs butchers is the place to get all your meaty needs from the fry up to the expertise for cheaper cuts. You can find these at Honest 2 Goodness market in Glasnevin on Saturdays and more at the link above.

Keoghs Crisps – These have replaced the festive packs of Tayto in my eyes! Boyler can’t get enough of their festive only flavour Roast Turkey and Secret Stuffing so much so we’re gonna buy as many packets as possible this year to stock up! They’re doing multi-packs now and are gluten free if you’re got people to please!

Feeling lazy but want to look thoughtful? The following have great selections to choose from and some have bespoke hampers too!

– Ardkeen Grocers in Waterford (will deliver) – great selection and price range.
Get Fresh Rathfarnham/Ballinteer will happily customise your hamper for you and have assured me that you get what you put in so really fits your budget!
– Honest 2 Goodness market are also doing great hampers including food & wine. They are also celebrating 5 years this month so what better way to celebrate!

So there you go! I would love to know if you find any tips or try any of the above!
What are your festive foods? Anything that just makes Christmas?
Have a great weekend everyone!
