I used to be a Scrooge when it came to Christmas, fitting in with my non-consumerism self, I still believe that making homemade gifts is much better than going out and spending hundreds on people. The past few years however I have been getting back into the spirit and magic of Christmas, hugely helped by my niece and the fact that Santa is around again.
Lesley over at Bellini’s and Blush tagged me in the blogger tag so I thought after a little break from blogging what better way to get back into it!
1. What are your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
The Muppets’ Christmas Carol is hands down my favourite Christmas movie, every year I wait til December to justify watching it.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
In my family we always did immediate family gifts after a special dinner on Christmas Eve leaving others til Christmas morning. Now it gets very confusing as Boyler won’t open his til Christmas Day yet has the dinner with us Christmas Eve. In his family they still get up very early and do presents before a huge breakfast to set you up for the day.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I have a particularly funny memory of my nana probably about 10 years ago loving the Metallica cd I bought my dad which we played during dinner. A strange one alright!
4. Favourite festive food?
I used to love my mum’s trifle but given I’m a vegetarian now I don’t have any particular favourites.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
That’s a very hard question. I was very lucky as a child and usually always got what I wanted for Christmas and always loved my surprises. I can’t single out any particular present that blew me away.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
A crackling fire.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
I mentioned above. My family has a big special meal (think duck, salmon, etc.) and exchange presents. This year will be my first joining in with Boyler’s traditions by going out in our village with the gang for a few drinks.
8. What tops your tree?
Has to be a star!
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Probably a dog or something. Dogs aren’t for Christmas, they’re for life.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
Being close with family.
